Diana Pei Wu
Diana Pei Wu is the Communications & Training Director at The Ruckus Society. She was born in New York City (Queens!) to immigrant parents from China and Taiwan. Her first mass mobilization was in 1989 after the murder of students in Tiananmen Square in China, the same year that she got her high school to offer a paper alternative to styrofoam in the cafeteria. She moved to Oakland in 1999, where she went to graduate school at UC Berkeley, got trained by Ruckus folks, and got to play in the streets of Seattle with her superhero-costumed affinity group, and then never stopped. Diana has worked on international human rights, housing, gentrification, immigrant rights, youth organizing, labor, LGBTQ rights, environmental justice and climate justice, and is thrilled to bring her thinking, creative, and language skills to the Ruckus family. From international mass mobilizations to local grassroots campaigns, Diana is proud to have supported, and continue to support, the leadership of frontline communities fighting for justice & dignity where they live, work & play.
