Welcome from Executive Director Adrienne Maree Brown

Welcome to our website!

The Ruckus Society provides environmental, human rights, and social justice organizers with the tools, training, and support needed to achieve their goals. Learn more in our brochure!

We're going to be updating the look and lay-out, so I wanted to write a little note that hopefully makes sure you know about us by the time you leave this site.

Ruckus is in its 13th year of training and supporting Nonviolent Direct Action. In the last 4 years, we've made an intentional transition to focus our resources and energy on communities that are most directly impacted by economic, environmental and social injustice.

We have been growing our capacity to pull off actions that tell the world what we want, not just what we protest. This year, we trained and supported actions for Indigenous control of Indigenous resources, housing rights for those under the poverty line, a world without ICE Raids, a Free Tibet for Tibetans, and so much more.

We are aiming to transform society with our belief that actions speak louder than words. We have a network of folks who can help you figure out, strategically, if it's time for action, what actions to take, how to take them step by step, and stand right there with you to pull it off. If you need us, don't hesitate to be in touch!

Below is news from various actions and trainings we're involved in.

Enjoy!

Thank You To Our Supporters!

Our Donor Renewal 2008 campaign is well under way!  We mailed our end-of-the-year letter in October, and reached out to as many of our supporters as we could during our Fall Phonebank in the last few weeks.  Thanks to all of you who took the time to speak with our staff and volunteers, and to those of you who have already sent in your donation!  All of your financial contributions are greatly appreciated, and make our work possible!

If you still need to make your 2008 donation, click here to donate online!  And, if you didn't receive a letter or phone call, and would like to, please contact devo@ruckus.org.
