Columbus Day Parade Gets Shut Down
Our very own Robert, about 80 protesters and activist Russell Means, were arrested on Saturday after blocking Denver's downtown parade honoring the Italian-born discoverer Christopher Columbus, an event they denounced as "a celebration of genocide."
Security Workers Take Action!
The Ruckus Society supported San Francisco¹s security workers as they took to the streets September 24th - September 28th for a week of direct action to demand the city¹s wealthiest property owners, including Shorenstein,Morgan Stanley, and Hines, give them a living wage and decent health care benefits.
Projecting to Bring the Salmon Home

Plug-In Hybrids, Not Hummers!

The Ruckus Society helped Working Assets STEP IT UP in collaboration with 1,400 other simultaneous nationwide climate change consciousness-raising actions, by deploying an 18-ft banner reading “PLUG-IN HYBRIDS NOT HUMMERS NOW!”, suspended by two weather balloons, in front of a Hummer dealership in San Rafael, CA.
Forward Not Back - Reproductive Justice for All!

On January 20, 2007, the rightwing held their 3rd Annual "Walk for Life - West Coast" in San Francisco. The Bay Area Coalition for Our Reproductive Rights (BACORR) organized a multi-issue response to defend reproductive rights. The Ruckus Society worked with BACORR to float a large banner that said "Forward Not Back - Reproductive Justice for All!"
Desert Rock Blockade
January 16th, 2007
Burnham, New Mexico is ground zero for the proposed Desert Rock coal burning power plant development by Sithe Global and the Dine Power Authority. The development threatens the way of life of Navajo (Dine) families who have been living on the land harmony for generations. Navajo families BLOCKADED the road to the site and STOPPED production of a coal burning power plant. The elders and supporters continue to hold vigil at the sight despite the bitter cold and a short supply of resources. However, the resolve of the elders is strong and cannot be defeated.

Target - PVC Day of Action

The Ruckus Society joined CHEJ, MOMS, and CEHCA to tell Target to phase out PVCs. A 20' tall Rubber Ducky was inflated at the protest.
